Getting There.....

Pine Cliffs Recreation Area - Northern Terminus of the trail

  • From Havelock head south on Hwy 101
  • From Beaufort head north on Hwy 101
Turn on onto Hwy 306 (Ferry Rd) which also takes you to the Cherry Branch Ferry.

After 3 miles look for the sign to Pine Cliff Recreation Area on the Left and turn onto the dirt road. Its easy to miss the sign. If you end up at the ferry terminal turn around. Follow the dirt road about 1.5 miles to the parking area. Be on lookout for horse back riders on the road. Plenty of parking, restrooms, picnic tables and fire pits over looking the Neuse. Over night camping is not allowed here, only along the trail.

About a mile in on the road to the Pine Cliffs Recreation area you will see a large parking area off to your left. This is new and is parking for horse trailers.

The trail head is to the right (as you face the shelter with your back to the river) of the shelter. Look for the the sign at the edge of the woods.

Oyster Point - Southern Terminus of the trail

  • From Havelock head south on Hwy 101
  • From Beaufort head north on Hwy 101

Turn onto Old Wineberry Rd. You will also see signs saying Oyster Point and Duncan Landing. Follow road to stop sign. Turn Right onto Mill Creek Rd. A few hundred yards and you will turn Left to Oyster Point Campground Road. Follow the dirt road 1 mile to end. Campground will be to right. Trail parking to left. The campground cost $8.00 per night and is not part of the trail. Walk onto the trail and you can camp out for free.

From Newport take Chatham St and turn Left onto Market St and then turn Right on Orange Street which goes by prison and then turns into Mill Creek Rd. Stay on this road for about 7 miles. Look for Oyster Point turn off on right.
